Your Weekly Internet Spoils: Summer Haze Edition

Fudgy Brownie Bites at Get more delicious at @chasedelicious.

It is well into summer here in our delightful northern hemisphere, darlings, and I think I’ve just begun to shake off the heavy laziness that sets in with the oppressive heat of it all. I do hope your summer is treating you well, even if it isn’t any sort of summer at all because you live in a different part of the world and are still reading my words through the magic of the Internet.

In which case I implore you to save these recipes on your quaintest Pinterest board for whenever the weather rolls back around to make them appropriate, because I am American so my lived experiences are obviously the only that are ever relevant.

Shall we? *eagle scream*

To consume and imbibe

So this week I fell victim to one of the many terrible time-wasting quizzes that runs rampant on the Internet superhighway, my darlings, and strangely enough it was not able to accurately determine who I was in 20 questions. Perhaps you would fair better with it. But I did really love that it included a question about one’s enjoyment of corn. You really have to wonder about the psychology behind such a strangely specific ask.

Anyway, this is my roundabout way of saying that your enjoyment of this Corn on the Cob with Lemon Basil Pesto could determine an Internet quiz’s assessment of your age. Please do let me know how you get on with it.

Also, you know how sometimes you see a recipe and all of time and space pauses for an instant and you think, “Soon. Soon I must have this meal.”? That’s how I felt when I saw the Eggplant Burgers with Honey Beer-Glazed Caramelized Shallots.

You’ll need to wash that down with something, and after last week’s talk of porches I’m still not over the idea of porch-worthy drinks such as Bourbon Peach Sweet Tea, or if you want something a little intensely cooler, a Minty Lime Frozen Mojito.

For dessert I cannot recommend enough the Cherry Cornmeal Upsidedown Cake. Twice I have made it and twice it has been devoured. I promise you, this cake is best cake.

And don’t forget to check out these Fudgy Brownie Bites form way back when, when Chasing Delicious was still small child. (See photo.)

The weirdest thing I found this week: Did I share this before? I’m so sorry. It just never stops being horrifying and haunting my dreams and probably also yours. At least we are not alone in this.

And last, but never least, your weekly tip on How to be a Better Human: Just watch this for a little while. No matter what is going on in your life, I think that should calm you down just right.

A final word, or series of them.

You are the best and brightest and I am terribly fond of you, darlings. And I’m not just saying that so you’ll come over and help me build this IKEA cart. Promise.

Until next time.

But I seriously cannot find websites and blogs devoted to reading, unfortunately an halt when it comes to hobbies… Anyone understand some actually popular and great ones? Classic and current literature are both awesome with me, since I browse both… Thanks a lot so much! =o).
